The Great Spring Blitz!

Completed

Saturday, March 14, 2026

Phase 1 is in the books! Turnout was small but mighty — every volunteer gave it their all. We got the stump grinding done and made major progress on brush clearing and perimeter work. The remaining brush & perimeter and soil work continues into Phase 2.

The Infrastructure Scavenger Hunt

In Progress

March 2026

Finishing what Phase 1 started and building the bones of the garden on a grassroots budget.

March 21 Work Day — Another Big Saturday!

We had a full work day with many volunteers, family, and friends turning out to get 3 full garden beds in place. The scavenger hunt for materials begins! Over the next two weeks, we'll continue to build out the plots and scavenge for materials. We are well on our way!

Spreading compost and running the rototiller to fold nutrients deep into native Charlotte soil.

  • Fortification Task Force: Sourcing hardware cloth, T-posts, and gates for a rabbit-proof trench-buried perimeter fence.
  • Hydro Squad: Sourcing food-grade IBC totes and PVC for rainwater catchment and well distribution.
  • Mulch Movers: Coordinating with local tree services for free wood chips for our 3-foot walking paths.
