The Beginning
USA Web School was co-founded by Sue and Kris Tyte after Kris received an honorable discharge from military service. Like many veterans, Kris grappled with translating the purpose and fulfillment of service into civilian life.
Rather than viewing post-service life as retirement from contribution, Sue and Kris embraced what would become the organization's founding philosophy: Second Service. The idea that service to society doesn't end, it evolves.
Building the Vision
Together, Sue and Kris shaped the organization around two core philosophies:
Second Service
Continued service to society as a path to fulfillment, rooted in Humanist principles
Technology Philanthropy
Advocacy for the ethical, humanistic application of technology for societal advancement
From Local to Global
What began as local tutoring and technology education quickly expanded. Operation Determination, establishing a computer lab in rural Ghana, demonstrated the organization's commitment to impact beyond borders.
Over 15 years, programs have evolved to meet changing community needs while staying true to core values: transparency, service, and humanistic technology.
The 100% Promise
From day one, the Tyte family made an extraordinary commitment: personally funding all administrative and overhead costs. This means every dollar donated goes directly to programs. It's a promise that defines the organization's integrity.
Our Commitment: This isn't marketing. It's how we operate. The Tyte family views funding overhead as their Second Service contribution, ensuring maximum donor impact.
Today and Tomorrow
Today, USA Web School operates multiple programs serving communities from Charlotte to Ghana. From podcast discussions to youth volunteer initiatives, from yard care for the elderly to developing open-source technology platforms, each program reflects our commitment to service and humanistic values.
Looking forward, we're expanding into technology literacy education, developing privacy-first digital tools, and continuing to evolve our programs to meet community needs.
