New ELA Standards Adopted The 2026 ELA Standard Course of Study was adopted by the NC SBE on January 8, 2026. The current 2017 ELA SCOS remains in place for instruction during 2026-27. Key changes include a streamlined three-strand structure, foundational skills extended K-12, and explicit grammar/conventions by grade level. EVA's Immersion Model East Voyager Academy uses a 50/50 immersion model. Math, Science, and some Related Arts are taught in Mandarin Chinese. ELA and Social Studies are taught in English. Middle school students also receive Spanish and English instruction. The Chinese curriculum uses textbook series "My First Chinese Words," "My First Chinese Reader," and "DC Pro" across grade levels.

New Standards in Effect The 2024 NC Arts Standards and 2024 Healthful Living Standards are both in their first full implementation year (2025-26). The 2024 Arts standards are aligned with the National Coalition of Arts Standards' four artistic processes.
